Well, large portions of the ice had broken off and melted, now the lake is startin to freeze over again. Looks like this hot body of water is going to have to wait.

I drove by on the way home tonight and the channel and stump fields along 183 are thawed. I'm not so sure that you could float a rubber duck in there though, there's still a whole lot of dry land that's visible.

My son and I were over yesterday and today walking and throwing rocks at the ice around Dry Brooks. Today we were over at the play ground beach area and a Bass Boat was coming around the Island. He went slow so he could break through the ice with his boat. I did not see him fishing.

Lots of boats out on the Marsh, catching is sporadic, however, there are reports of nice fish being caught. Water level is scheduled to start rising starting April 1.

Check with nip, I have seen him over there the most. Make sure you break those reels in! You will have to hook them to a drill for 2 hours and spin them in to shape.

I have never fished Blue Marsh Lake, but would like to try fishing there sometime this week. Any help, as to where to start or what to use? Where can I get a map of the lake? Dandy

You can get a map of the lake from our club member MooreBass. If you go to our website http://www.berksbassmasters.com and look on that page you will see the information on ordering a map(s) from him. When the lake was built most of the structure was removed and one of our club projects over the years is building and installing fish habitat structures, cutting trees for cover and dumping chunk rock. The location of all of the added structure is marked on those lake maps along with the GPS info.

As far as where to fish this week, I can't be of much help since I really never do real well over there. I have been going over and fishing for crappie bass and have caught a few in the downed trees. As far as bass, I have run into a few smallmouth but no largemouth. The water temp is in the mid to high 50's when the sun is shining during the day. The main lake is known to be a good area for smallmouth and the largemouth are scattered there as well as up the creek arms. Seems at this water temp right now the smallmouth are more active. Would fish most of the cold water type baits and fish them slow this time of year. Of course with my track record on Blue Marsh you can take this info for what it is worth!!!
