Hospital News! 8/30

Just a note that Cleon is in St. Joes Hospital, Room 2008, for a leg blood clot and my little buddy, Carl Wolfinger, is in the Reading Hospital for an irregular heartbeat. I talked to both Cleon and Carl today. Word is that Cleon is fed up with the hospital food and is having a catering service bring in his munchies and Carl is writing a book on how to rate the Reading Hospital nurses on a scale from 1 to 10. These guys sure are sick?????

Hope they are both feeling back to normal and back fishing real soon. Be sure to wish them our best.

WLUMC Youth Group Fishing Event

Just a reminder that NEXT WEDNESDAY, August 25, 2010, at State Hill, boats to be there no later than 5:45pm, the kids will arrive around 6. This is their favorite event, and there will probably be a lot of participants. All larger boats should plan on 2 guests per boat. I have secured all permits, so it is approved for the group and parents if they want to fish without a license, and I have a permit for the picnic area on the hill. Please make sure you have enough equipment in your boats (pfd's, rods and reels, snacks, drinks). There will be hot dogs, beverages, and candy for after fishing. We will fish till 8, then snack time. Thank you in advance for volunteering.

As you can see (that is if you can sign on) I have uploaded the new version of Vanilla forum software. This is bare bones at the moment but I will be adding in some of the features from the old forum shortly. Some things may not appear as before (links, files, pictures) but I will add them back on as they are released. Hopefully this software will make things easier to use and create more activity. You should find that this new software version will load the page much faster than the old.

Rod and reel recovery attempt

The Marsh has claimed another victim(Auchenbach has lost a rod and reel), and this evening I will be scuba diving to try and recover it. Everybody pray for me, between zero visibility and recreational boat traffic, it should be a real treat. Maybe I'll get lucky and find it. Stay tuned for more details

Sorry to see the differences of opinions last night that lead to the outbursts of tempers. We must be able to express our opinions whether the same or opposing, without leading to the outbursts. When the club has those harsh internal issues nobody wins, and nothing positive comes out of the situation. Hopefully both parties will cool down and adjust their perspectives on the issue and reconcile their differences.

Thank You, for all members ( Dan,Wolfie,Cleon,Barry,Paul,Bill ), Bill R. work Associates,The Blue Marsh Corp employees and the PA Fish Comm. for helping build the Cribs on Wednesday 7/21. For those who were not there, we received a award from the PA Fish Comm. for 30 years of being in the Adopt-A-Lake program which I will bring to next month's meeting. We have placed 827 Cribs covering 63 acres in the lake over the past 30 years. A special Thank You to Bill Reichert for all the work he's done for the club.

Angler's choice winners on 6/20/10 had a 5 fish bag of 28.92 lbs. their big fish was 6.95 that means it was a average of 5.49 lbs. for 4 of their other fish. WOW!

2009 Club Classic Update

With the Flats tournament next weekend, this will be the final piece to conclude the postponed 2009 Classic. The following individuals are eligible for the classic monies: Auchenbach, Esterly, Rushing, Reinert, Long, Schaeffer, Esterly, Moore, High, Wolfinger. Based on the results of the last Flats results on May 2, Paul Long is leading, followed by Rushing and High, and the rest of the field is wide open. Good luck to everyone. Anyone with questions, give me a call.

Can't wait for the upcoming Flats tournament, 2 big additional tourneys leaving out of Northeast, maybe we can get a jump on them, seeing that we are launching out of Tidings. Seeing that I blanked last time down there, hopefully, I can catch a keeper and earn a place and points. DON'T BET YOUR BOAT ON THAT!!!!!! With all those boats, the place should be jumpin. I'll make sure i have a lot of good food, incase I once again struggle. maybe the secret is to go south, learn new water, then at least if I blank, I got to see new water. At least this time we are launching at high tide. And people want to know why I drink....... ?

If not better get out with the next snow and catch some for upcoming fishing season.
Just rember that they must be kept in the frezer so they won't melt and die.

APRIL MEETING / SPRING BUDDY TOURNEY

Gentleman, I just wanted to remind everyone that you will be signing up for the April 17 & 18 Potomac River and May 2 Flats tournaments at this meeting. Also, as you know, April 3 is the spring buddy tournament. Boat check starts at 5am. Anyone that can arrive prior to 5am to help out would be greatly appreciated. I also will need people to help at the weigh-in. I hope to see the club represented with as many member participants as possible. I know fishing Blue Marsh in the spring can be tough but Don Auchenbach agreed to allow club members to follow him all day.

I spoke to Woody at leesport, he is going to rent us 2/3 of the hall(with kitchen) at a reduced rate. So far we hav 24 tables sold. Please help sell the rest of the table and promote this event. Any club members who need tables let me know.
