The Department has recently received many questions about a type of gear called an Alabama Rig. The Department defines the Alabama Rig as an umbrella rig. The umbrella rig, as described on page 39 of the 2012 Fishing Guide, may not have more than two baits or lures which have hooks. Additional hooks can be removed to bring the rig into compliance with regulations. This is consistent with regulations for the mainstem tidal Potomac River as well, which is managed under the authority of the Potomac River Fisheries Commission.

Just completed the last character reference request by Mr Claus. FYI, I didn't lie, had to tell it like it is. Hope you all have coal stoves. Had to classify into the bad, awful, ugly, and horrible categories. Many members qualified for multiple categories, member's wives lead some of the categories. For all you guys that ordered tons of stuff thru UPS, you're killing me! That's right, if you didn't take the time to order a shirt in the past two months then you will be out of luck on Friday. I need to cut a check for payment BEFORE the shirts are made. If you have NOT ordered a shirt or have NOT received and approved the proof sent to you by E3Sport.com then you have a day and a half to get it done. If I can get a list of people who have ordered so far I will post it in this thread. Hopefully enough people ordered so those who volunteered for the 11/11/11 event at Cabelas will have a club shirt.

Hi everyone,

In the midst of recent reports of northern snakehead captures from throughout the Nanticoke River, Rhode River, and ponds near the upper Patuxent and Potomac Rivers, we have put together a video that shows folks how to identify and legally kill a northern snakehead. I’ve pasted the links below. The first link takes folks to the MDDNR page where the video is posted. The second link takes folks to the youtube page where the video is posted. The video will soon be posted on the tidal bass website. Please feel free to share this video with friends, family, and those among you who spend time on the water.

We are very serious about preventing the spread of this species beyond the Potomac River. While we are implementing measures to control and kill this fish from outside the Potomac River drainage, we are asking anglers who spend a lot of time out on the water to help us out. There are a lot of misidentifications and some confirmed sightings go unreported for a long while. Also, some anglers still illegally transport live snakehead, even though the angler may not know the snakehead is alive. I don’t want anyone getting fined for carrying around a live snakehead. I also don’t want anyone stocking ponds with live snakehead. Our hope is that the short video we’ve put together will show folks: 1) how to identify the snakehead; 2) how to kill the snakehead; and 3) how to report the snakehead to state and federal agencies. Reel Kids Casting

Here is the info for the finals at Cabelas this Sunday. Hope someone from our club can attend. I will be in Canada that day so I will not be there. The last I heard is that the kids who qualified at the Valley Forge show should be there. Here is the info:

The Reel Kids Kasting PENNSYLVANIA State Championship will be held at Cabela’s, Hamburg, Pa. Sunday September 4, 2011.
Registration will start at 11:00 AM; Competition will begin promptly at 12:00 Noon.

Each age winner will receive $250.00, a trophy and prizes.

Second place $100.00 and prizes

There will be prizes for all competitors.

New Tuesday Night Scale in use.....

Attached is a photo made by Cleon of our new TS scale in use at the Tuesday Night. Everything worked great and the weigh-in moved along very quickly. The remote LED display clearing shows up well! Cleon must have snapped this photo while BlackCloud was weighing in his catch.

New beta version of Forum software

I installed a upgrade to the forum software that fixes a bunch of problems. Unfortunately so far I see it has broken the user thumbnail images. I reported it and will install a fix when they come out with one. Let me know if you see any other problems.
